About

A small studio, by design

Easy STEM School is run by two instructors who teach every session themselves. There is no roster of rotating tutors, and no curriculum applied regardless of the student in front of us.

What we believe

Subject knowledge is the whole job

A tutor who merely stays a chapter ahead can explain the worked example. A tutor who knows the subject deeply can hear a student's wrong answer and identify precisely which idea is missing.

That is why we teach only mathematics, physics, and computer science, and why sessions are always one-on-one. Students arrive at different levels and with different gaps; the work is to find the gap, close it properly, and then build upward until the student can work without us.

The instructors

Between them: doctoral research in theoretical physics, and years of professional software engineering followed by classroom teaching.

Yakov Prager
Mathematics & Physics

Yakov Prager

Ph.D., Physics & Mathematics

Yakov holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and physics and has extensive experience in theoretical research in quantum field theory and solid state physics. He works fluently across classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and the mathematics that theoretical physics requires — calculus, real and complex analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, and group theory.

His teaching is calm, focused, and highly personalized. He does not rush material or rely on memorization tricks. Instead he helps students slow down, think clearly, and build real problem-solving habits: asking the right question, breaking a complex idea into manageable steps, and surfacing patterns the student had not noticed.

Many students arrive overwhelmed by math or physics. Over time they gain confidence — not because the material became easier, but because they learned to approach it correctly. He sets high standards and is patient in holding students to them.

Faina Prager
Computer Science

Faina Prager

Software engineer · AP Computer Science A instructor

Faina spent many years as a software engineer before moving into education, where she taught AP Computer Science A and mentored students in advanced STEM subjects. Her instruction is grounded in real engineering practice: she understands both the theoretical foundations and how the concepts are actually used to build software.

She believes computer science education requires more than syntax memorization. Her focus is computational thinking, problem-solving frameworks, and the analytical skill of breaking a complex problem into steps that can be tested.

Her teaching style is structured and patient — starting from solid foundations and introducing complexity gradually. Whether a student is writing their first program or preparing for the AP exam, she adapts to their pace and the way they learn.

“Tutoring is about building analytical skills that carry students through university and beyond.” Yakov Prager, Ph.D.
