Tutoring

What we teach

Three subjects, every level. Sessions are one-on-one, in person in Newton or online, and built around the specific coursework in front of the student.

From algebra to advanced calculus

Mathematics is not about memorizing procedures — it is about understanding structure.

We build deep conceptual mastery at any level. Whether a student is strengthening foundations or preparing for advanced coursework, we focus on clarity, logical reasoning, and disciplined problem solving. We identify gaps quickly, reinforce fundamentals, and train students to think independently rather than lean on patterns or shortcuts. Students leave a session not only with the correct answer, but with confidence in how they arrived at it.

Mechanics, electromagnetism & modern physics

Rigorous, individualized instruction at every level — focused on logical reasoning, mathematical modeling, and disciplined problem solving.

Physics rewards students who can translate a situation into a model and then reason carefully about it. That skill is teachable. We work through problems the way a physicist does: identify the principle, choose the representation, check the limiting cases, and only then compute. The goal is deep understanding, stronger analytical skill, and genuine confidence on exams.

  • Classical mechanicsKinematics, Newton's laws, energy, momentum, rotational motion
  • Electricity & magnetismElectric fields, circuits, magnetism, electromagnetic induction
  • Waves & oscillationsWave behaviour, sound, interference, simple harmonic motion
  • Thermal physicsHeat transfer, thermodynamics, kinetic theory
  • Modern physicsAtomic structure, nuclear physics, quantum concepts
  • IB Physics (SL & HL)Full syllabus coverage including Internal Assessment guidance
  • AP Physics (1, C: Mechanics, C: E&M)Conceptual mastery and calculus-based problem solving
  • Problem solving & exam strategyStructured analytical frameworks and past-paper practice

Programming & computational thinking

Computer science is more than syntax — it is learning how to think computationally.

We teach students to design algorithms, decompose complex problems, and write clean, structured code. Whether preparing for AP Computer Science A, building an independent project, or moving beyond the classroom curriculum, the focus is clarity, depth, and real understanding. Students do not simply complete assignments — they learn to engineer solutions.

  • Programming fundamentalsVariables, control structures, functions, data types, debugging
  • Object-oriented programmingClasses, inheritance, abstraction, design principles (Java & Python)
  • Data structures & algorithmsArrays, lists, stacks, queues, recursion, sorting, searching
  • AP Computer Science AFull syllabus preparation, FRQ strategy, exam-level problem solving
  • Project developmentDesigning and building structured, independent coding projects
  • Computational thinkingBreaking complex problems into logical, testable steps
  • Advanced pathwaysAlgorithmic thinking, competition preparation, deeper CS exploration

How sessions work

Simple and consistent. No packages to decode, no scripted curriculum applied regardless of the student.

Format
One-on-one only, in person in Newton, MA or online by video. Sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes.
First session
A diagnostic conversation and problem set to find where understanding actually breaks down — which is rarely where the grade suggests.
Ongoing work
Aligned to the student's own coursework and exam calendar, with targeted practice between sessions.
Communication
Parents receive a clear account of what was covered, what improved, and what still needs work.
Getting started

Tell us where the student is

Send the course, the level, and what has been difficult. We will reply with an honest assessment and a suggested starting point.
